Beyond the financial benefits, negotiating is important to establish your sense of worth to yourself, the employer and the work you do. Being fairly compensated has been linked to higher rates of job satisfaction and productivity (Sitorus & Hidayat, 2023). So, it’s in the interest of an employer to ensure their employees are being compensated fairly.
