What is Fluid Mechanics

A fluid is any substance that will change shape under external forces, such as liquids or gases [1]. Fluid mechanics is a branch of physics that analyses a fluid's response to external forces [2].

There are two main branches of fluid mechanics:

  1. Fluid statics which studies stationary fluids
  2. Fluid dynamics which studies fluids in motion
