Overview

Regulation (or regulating) valves are designed to control and manage flow rate, temperature, pressure, etc [1]. Most regulation valves achieve this by using a plug or similar device to modulate the flow area available.



Note: All examples listed above, besides the globe valve are also commonly used as isolation valves.
